In response to a requirement from one of our customers we have developed a new
fan blade called 5W. Our customer has a demand for impellers with optimum
performance in diameters with 1000mm and 1120mm. The impellers are used in
various cooling applications such as evaporators and air-cooled condensers.
Previously they have used 9 and 12-bladed 5Z impellers but in some cases this
solution proved not to be strong enough. In these cases they used a 6W solution.
However, in the long run the 6W solution was too high priced and the pressure
created by the 6W was also too high. Hence one of the important design
parameters was to come up with a more inexpensive solution, and to take out some
of the pressure from the 6W blade.
Therefore, the 5W is a shorter and
slimmer version of the 6W blade. With a length of 426,8mm it can reach 1127,6mm
in a 5 or a 6-bladed W retaining plate. Due to the requirement from our customer
this blade is initially available in an L version and in AL only.
Below
is the performance of a 990mm diameter impeller tested in a 1000mm diameter duct
in our in-house wind tunnel.
